Ichanka translates as "Water of the Condor" ("I" = water). The little hamlet of Ichanka, located on the Estate, was an important source of spring water to the indigenous Diaguitas. This secret water source was discovered courtesy of the Condors that would be seen hovering over the spring. The Diaguitas believed the Condor was the closest creature to divinity and was considered a messenger of the spirits. Our Vichigasta Vineyard wines are produced using only the best grapes from special plots within our vineyard. The grapes are hand-picked and carefuly transported to the winery in small bins to avoid premature crushing.

Tasting Notes
Bright dark red color with aromas full of red fruits with hints of violets and pepper. Flavors of ripened plum and cherry accompany this wine’s smooth and sweet rounded tannins. This unique and delightful blend of Malbec and Bonarda is well balanced across the palate with a long and persistent finish.

You'll find Malbec a great match for steak, pork, and lamb, as well as fattier fish like salmon and poultry with dark meat. Game meat—like bison, ostrich, and venison—are also a safe bet. In addition to meat pairings, consider foods with richer sauces or more vibrant flavors.
