The Ashmead family purchased their first estate vineyard in the middle of Nuriootpa in the late 1970s and since making their first wine from the 1982 vintage, have developed a great reputation and an enviable history of success. Our Barossa Shiraz comes from many parcels across our three vineyard sites. These vineyards ripen differently owing to their different aspects, elevation and soil types. Our Greenock vineyard is on the western end of the Barossa, first to ripen for us and always brings a vibrant bouquet and punchy tannin to our blend. Our Nuriootpa plantings bring a depth of tannin and a lovely sweet spiced fruit element and our Craneford vineyard is a more elevated site on leaner soils ripening later in the season.

Tasting Notes
Elderton Barossa Valley Shiraz is a full bodied, classic, and serious style and has a vibrant dark purple color with aromas of black forest fruits and a hint of spiced plums. Rich red fruits and plummy depth with a touch of spicy cloves leading in to a seamless length on the palate with chalky tannins matched with juicy red fruit sweetness.
